FOX.INC (Head Office：Yurakucho,Chiyoda,Tokyo、CEO：Michinori Isohata), an official distributor of Onyx International, would release 7.8-inch “BOOX – Nova 2” and 13.3-inch “BOOX – Max 3” on 29th July.
The most important feature of the “BOOX – Nova 2” and “BOOX – Max 3” is that, unlike conventional Linux-based e-ink e-readers, the BOOX – Nova 2 and BOOX – Max 3 are powered by the Android 9.0 operating system and a variety of apps from Google Play can be installed*. As well as being able to be used as an e-book, they also come with a special Wacom stylus pen to provide a high standard of digital paper use. BOOX – Nova 2 and BOOX – Max 3 are also available in a special case to accompany the release. (cover for Nova 2 is compatible with Nova) (*some apps may not be optimized)
For BOOX – Nova 2, display size is 7.8-inch, equivalent to A5-size, 8.0mm thin and the weight is 265g, which feels light that could be used like a notepad. It also comes with 3,150mAh battery that can operate for 7 weeks in standby mode.
For BOOX – Max 3, with the wide 13.3-inch A4-size E Ink display and the stylus, it could be used to take notes, mark up, annotate, edit A4 PDF documents, which would generally give your office a paperless makeover. It also makes it easy to carry the device everywhere because of the thin 6.8mm body and the light weight of only 490g. BOOX Max 3 comes with 4,300mAh battery and can operate for 4 weeks in standby mode.
Case cover for BOOX – Nova Series
Official “Case Cover for Nova Series” is a flip-type case that protects the screen. The minimalist design with the texture of the material makes it suitable for business use as well. As useful features, Case Cover has auto-sleep function and a pen holder on the flip side of the case to store a stylus pen (included in Nova Series). (cover for Nova 2 is compatible with Nova)

BOOX is not a simple e-paper device, nor is it a typical Android device. That is the interesting point about BOOX, as many of other e-paper devices have limited functions such as “reading” and “writing” according to their characteristics. On the other hand, BOOX uses Android OS, which allows the user to install and use a variety of apps from Google Play giving you a high degree of versatility. Cloud services such as Dropbox and document management apps, Evernote could be used and with the included Wacom stylus pen, users also can use it as a memo pad for seamless data editing and subsequent collaboration. BOOX may not be ideal for viewing videos or color photos, however, depending on the usage, it should be a must-have that you cannot live without.
